Today I've been determined to set a timer and do a free-flow update whilst also setting my intentions for the new year. Writing exercises and prompts have been getting me back into this lane of creativity again and I also wanted to compile some really cool things I've seen since the last post, and others I'm looking forward to in 2023. Hopefully, in about 5 minutes of your time, I will have done all of that.
With so much chaos on a world level, the chaos on a personal and social level has really challenged many people, including me. And I know I'm not alone in that for sure, that’s something that's become more evident as I re-evaluate what feels like chaos. The world is moving super-fast, but there's a lot of beauty in the chaos. This super Erykah-Badu-way of describing manually changing my perspective might also be called delusional but it feels like a lot of people are just over the chaos they don’t want. Return to sender and carry on in your own lane. Reject Tradition: Be a lucky Girl.
Tiktok: Lucky Girl Syndrome
Dinner parties are my current obsession. The Invitation and The Menu are two films that are both partially to blame for this, but so is that picture of Lily Rose-Depp lighting a cigarette off a dinner candle at a dinner table. You know the picture. On the last full moon, I hosted a dinner party of four, and it was magical. Everyone brought a bottle of wine and something to share that they were really excited by: from Pizza to Lego, to Canapes. Dramatic, intentional and embodied time shared with deep worries and rants, all in a container that felt safe and organic. Authentic. Aligned.
As the last few months at University Usain Bolt past me, I've been looking more long-term, creative endeavours included. The chaos dampened any fire I had for anything beyond what I considered 'getting by' but I'm working with myself to get this back. Consistency in reaching creative goals. Schedules. Lists. Authentic expression. Deep and meaningful. Bright and Tacky.

Ps: Here's another timed writing exercise I did, inspired by readings around Mama Djombo There is enough magic and mystery in organic experience. Balance the sorcerer and The Alchemist. React with action to your witnessing. You've both felt and been told that your name means nothing; that you have no meaning or place. Ignored. But you continue to grow and experience, as that is what comes most naturally. What feels natural has more meaning and potential than can be ever explored. More places (to be?) and opportunities to see than can ever be seen. Embrace the mystery in what is natural around and within you. Authentic communication leads to authentic shine, like rays of The Aten and fire. Through organic vulnerability and shine, your positive affectation is overwhelming. Yet you will not crumble.
